Greencastle – Two Indianapolis men were killed when a single-engine plane crashed into a cornfield. Indiana State Police in Putnamville said the place crashed about 3:05 p.m. Saturday in northern Putnam County, about nine miles north and east of Greencastle. The cause was not known. The pilot, Robert D. Neely, 28 and Thomas Watkins, 39 were pronounced dead at the scene. According to a preliminary investigation, state police said the plane was owned by AMTRANS, a subsidiary of American Trans Air and that the Neely was flying an introductory flight.
